Tan Responsibly with Castle Tanning
At Castle Tanning, customer safety is our priority. Sunbed hire is strictly available to adults aged 18 and over. Before making a booking, please take a moment to read the important health and safety information below.
This information is provided in accordance with the requirements of the Sunbeds Act (Northern Ireland) 2011.
Skin Cancer & Premature Ageing
Sunbeds produce ultraviolet (UV) radiation, similar to the UV radiation found in natural sunlight. Exposure to UV radiation can increase the risk of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers and may contribute to premature skin ageing.
The World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO/IARC) classifies UV-emitting tanning devices as Group 1 carcinogenic to humans.
Protecting Your Eyes
UV radiation can cause serious eye damage, including photokeratitis (corneal burns), cataracts and long-term retinal damage.
Protective goggles must be worn during every sunbed session. Castle Tanning includes one pair of protective goggles free with every hire.
Who Should Not Use a Sunbed
Sunbeds are not suitable for everyone. You should avoid using a sunbed if you burn easily, never tan, have lots of moles or freckles, or have a personal or family history of skin cancer. Sunbed use is also unsuitable for people with photosensitive skin conditions or those taking medication that increases sensitivity to UV light. If you are unsure, please speak to your GP before booking.
Important Session Guidance
Always follow the recommended session time provided by Castle Tanning and never use the sunbed more than once in 24 hours. Remove makeup and cosmetics before your session and only use tanning products specifically designed for UV tanning. If your skin becomes red, sore or uncomfortable, stop your session immediately.
No Health Claims
Castle Tanning makes no claims that sunbed use provides health benefits. UV tanning is offered as a cosmetic service only.
Sunbeds should not be used as a source of vitamin D. Vitamin D can be obtained through diet, appropriate supplements and safe exposure to natural outdoor sunlight.

Frequently Asked Questions?
How much floor space is required to install a stand-up sunbed in my home?
Our vertical stand-up sunbeds are surprisingly compact, taking up roughly 1 metre square of floor space (about 3ft by 3ft). They operate using two standard domestic 13-amp wall sockets, making them suitable for most homes with readily available power outlets. Their compact footprint makes them an excellent choice for spare bedrooms, home gyms, or other areas with limited space.
Are home sunbeds as powerful as commercial high-street tanning salon beds?
Yes. Our sunbed hire fleet uses modern 0.3 compliant high-performance tubes. They deliver the exact same tanning results as commercial salons while adhering to UK/EU safety regulations to prevent skin burning.
How does delivery and setup work for upstairs bedrooms?
Our installation team handles all the heavy lifting. We carry the sunbed panels upstairs in modular sections, assemble the unit in your chosen room, safety-test the electrics, and demonstrate all controls before leaving.
What power electrical supply do I need to run a home sunbed?
All our vertical stand-up sunbeds operate using two standard domestic 13-amp wall sockets. There is no need for any special commercial wiring or industrial power upgrades, making installation simple and convenient in most homes.
Do you charge separate delivery or installation fees within Tyrone and Armagh?
No, all our hire quotes include free delivery, full on-site setup, safety goggles, and final collection across our primary 15-mile operating radius.
